The Charleston region offers an ample, reliable supply of power. The area is served by Santee Cooper, The South Carolina Electric and Gas Company and two electric cooperatives - Berkeley Electric Cooperative and Edisto Electric Cooperative.
Natural Gas
South Carolina Electric and Gas Company and South Carolina Pipeline Corporation, both subsidiaries of SCANA Corporation, provide natural gas transmission and distribution services to wholesale and retail customers in approximately 80% of South Carolina's land areas, including Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties.
Telecommunications
The region offers advanced, reliable telecommunications services through state-of-the-art technology. BellSouth, one of the nation's leading-edge telecommunications companies, is the primary provider in the Charleston region. Virtually any telecommunications need can be accommodated in the region.
In addition, telephone services are also provided by Home Telephone Company, McClellanville Telephone Company, United Telephone Company, St. Stephen's Telephone Company, GTE South, and State Communications.
Water and Sewer
The Charleston region has an abundant supply of water. Local water supplies are provided through area lakes, rivers and wells, eliminating the expense of bringing water in from outside the local area.
